For the next 31 days we are gonna talk about something near and dear to my heart: being an advocate. (Scroll down for links to daily posts.)
Why 31 days? I’m glad you asked.
31 Days is an online writing challenge started by home blogger, Myquillyn Smith (The Nester) where bloggers pick one topic and write a post on that topic every day in October.
As a writer, 31 Days challenges you to go deeper into one topic.
As a reader, 31 Days will most likely have a few topics that you are curious about, and it’s a great time to get to know some new bloggers.
To read the 31 Days Topics starting in October simply click to the 31 Days home page, scroll down and pick any category from the black squares and click on it and you’ll be taken to a plethora of wonderful ideas – enjoy!
(Thank you for the explanation, Nester!)
Why Advocate? I’m glad you asked. Again.
I have always been compelled to help others, even as a child. I didn’t realize until adulthood that what I was doing had evolved into advocacy: publicly supporting or recommending a particular cause or policy. I have a deep empathy for those in need, and actively seek out ways to help them change their situation.
I also believe that most people have this same desire. Most people want to Be The Change…they just aren’t sure how to go about it. Well, I am by no means an expert but I use the g00g1e to research, I read books and I follow along as others go before me. And the good news is, you don’t have to have a passport or a PhD or a pile of money to make a difference!
So, come along with me as I delve deeper into ways that you and I can become an advocate for others!
